Professor Yong-Tae Lee of the Department ofForensic Information Science and TechnologyReceives Presidential Citation

On Monday, April 22, 2024, Professor Yong-Tae Lee, an adjunct professor of the Department of Forensic Information Science and Technology, was awarded a Presidential Citation for his significant contributions to the advancement of information and communication technology. Professor Lee, who is currently a Principal Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), has a distinguished record of service, having previously held the positions of Executive Director of the Defense & Safety Convergence Research Division at ETRI and a member of the National Science and Technology Council. The appointment of Professor Yong-Tae Lee as an adjunct professor has provided crucial momentum for the Multi-Ministry Joint Project on Cybercrime, a key initiative being pursued by our Graduate School of AI Convergence Research Institute and the Department of Forensic Information Science and Technology. This significant national project is led by the Korean National Police Agency with the participation of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Its primary objective is to secure core technologies for a real-time Korean crime response system by collecting critical cybercrime investigation leads and key information, and by developing advanced capabilities for analyzing and inferring connections between them. The appointment of Professor Lee has garnered considerable attention from academia and industry. It is expected to significantly enhance our university's R&D capabilities in the field of scientific policing integrated with AI, and to foster the development of innovative ideas for new projects in related areas.
