ree

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, professors Ro-seop Park and Jung-min Ahn, along with a number of students from the Department of Forensic Information Science and Technology, participated in the 1st Academic Seminar of the Korean Data Forensics Society, held at the Hanra Hall in Seoul Dragon City. The seminar, centered on the theme "Digital Forensics: Scientific Policing Leading Innovation," was co-hosted with the Korean National Police Agency and the Data Science Research Center of the Korean National Police University. The Korean Data Forensics Society was established to build a robust academic and research infrastructure that integrates public safety with data science. The association is presided over by Professor Ro-seop Park of the Department of Forensic Information Science and Technology, who also serves as the Dean of the College of Global Integrated Studies and the Director of the Legal Informatics and Forensic Science Institute. The seminar was structured into four distinct sessions, with Professor Ro-seop Park delivering the opening remarks in his capacity as the association's president. The first session, titled "AI-driven legal technology industry" featured presentations and discussions on the implementation methods and application cases of legal services using generative AI in criminal justice procedures. The subsequent sessions (Sessions 2, 3, and 4) were dedicated to discussions on tracing rental fraud schemes, tracking illicit virtual asset transactions, and integrated decision-support technologies for the 112/119 emergency response systems, respectively. Professor Ro-seop Park, President of the Korean Data Forensics Society, reflected on the event, stating, "This was a deeply meaningful occasion where we could conduct scientific policing R&D using public safety data and share the latest technologies and research trends in the field of digital forensics. It is our aspiration that our association will serve as a platform for experts from various fields to communicate and share knowledge, thereby contributing to public safety and scientific policing." The 2nd Academic Seminar of the Korean Data Forensics Society is scheduled to be held in the second half of 2024.
